Reinventing the mill with Omas technologies

2020 was a difficult year that put us to the test, but at the same time gave us the opportunity to take some time to fix important aspects that normally is difficult to follow, caught up in the rush of orders. 

During this time we have identified two main needs: on the one hand manage the technical archive, with the information needed to build a machine or a full engineering project; on the other the need to manage different data on different files and programs to design, build and manage the product. All this making available and intelligible information between the different areas involved.

That’s why we’ve created a kind of PDM, a digital tool that holds the data together. An instrument that becomes more and more indispensable since the skills, the knowledge and the information of Omas' departments are important assets, and therefore must be easily available and made available to all. Only in this way it is possible to guarantee a virtuous and precise performance from the beginning of the project till the end.

This system allows us to store the technical documentation, together with a series of information useful to obtain answers as complete as possible, accessible in a simple way. In simple words, we made "talk" the various software present in the company. In fact,once the design is obtained, with few clicks we are able to obtain separate production or purchase lists, specifications for the realization of electrical schematics and even the definition of the management software.

A fluid flow of information allows to:

- Implement the economic offer accompanied by all data and information to be provided to the customer in a clear and precise way;  

- Obtain all the technical documentation properly configured according to the specifications of the client complete with drawings, material lists, lists electrical utilities, electronic components and automation software;

- Create a packing list of materials and documentation necessary for the shipment of our plants and their assembly and commissioning at the customer’s site.

Another job that requires constancy and precision is the update of the technical DB to make it  more complete, also in the light of the numerous customizations that we implement for our customers. A real archive from where information are drawn: the commercial product configurator, the CAD, the company ERP, the automation department and the after-sales.

Simple clicks allow to select machines and plants in a guided, controlled manner and in compliance with current regulations. In short, the new working tool allows:

-  Save time;

-  Reduce the possibility of error;

- Increase the standardisation and interchangeability of products and components;

- Increase the quality of work and the satisfaction of OMAS people.

The digitalization of the internal know-how has allowed to be more performing, being able to respond to the most varied needs with promptness and precision, improving the internal workflow and responding promptly to the customer.
